Quick answer

The August 29, 2026 MW4 Open Beta update added Combat Outpost, reserve-ammo changes and a major .50 GS Apex reduction. This page records that dated patch. The separate August 31 patch news article covers the later TTK, playlist, XP and 11-weapon changes.

What changed for weapon players

The .50 GS Apex conversion now has 34 damage in its 0–20.3 m band, 30 damage from 20.3–44.4 m, and 27 beyond 44.4 m. The old 46/37 profile made the conversion behave like a pocket marksman rifle; the new bands make misses and follow-up shots more costly. Krait P68 also received the close-range tuning from the previous update, so compare both secondaries in the same test rather than carrying over Friday’s rankings.

Why the patch changes a tier list

The August 29 update landed after the August 28 class-wide TTK pass, and the August 31 patch changed the test boundary again. A score captured before either pass mixes different damage bands, reserve ammo, playlists and movement rules. This site therefore treats older boards as dated history. Launchers, melee and rifles should still be compared inside their role.

How to re-test a loadout

  1. Record the date, mode and weapon conversion before entering the Firing Range.
  2. Test the .50 GS at 10 m, 20 m, 30 m and 45 m, recording shots to finish and reload time.
  3. In Combat Outpost, test one infantry lane and one vehicle lane; captured outposts are spawn points, so a slow reload can be punished immediately.
  4. Repeat the drill for the affected 11 weapons under the August 31 patch and record the playlist. A Beta weapon that wins one weekend is not a launch guarantee.
